20 Group

Non competing peer group of dealers who benchmark and hold each other accountable.

Definition

A 20 Group is a structured peer network of roughly 20 automotive dealerships, organized by brand or store size, that meets several times a year to share financial composites, compare KPIs, and pressure test decisions. The format dates to the 1950s and remains the gold standard for dealer education in North America.

Why it matters

20 Groups are where dealers actually change behavior. They are the natural place to roll out AI, because peer accountability beats vendor pitches every time.
